De Lorenzo, currently director of group strategy and corporate development and a member of the group's executive committee, had been the acting chief financial officer since February 19.

SABMiller chairman John Manser said the board considered a number of high-quality internal and external candidates, and concluded that De Lorenzo was the best qualified for the role.

Alan Clark, the CEO of SABMiller, said: "Dom proved an outstanding candidate for appointment as chief financial officer and will hit the ground running after a strong five months acting in the role. He has quickly made a positive impact and built a high level of credibility and community in our finance team, and with our senior business leaders, our executive committee, and our board. I look forward to continuing to work with Dom as we pursue our vision to make SABMiller the most admired beverage company in the world."
