Cell C donates ten computers to new primary school

Cell C, in partnership with ZTE Corporation, New Age Holdings and the Department of Communications, recently unveiled a fully-equipped computer lab donated to the newly-opened Diepsloot Primary School north west of Johannesburg.

Officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Tembisa Ndabeni, the lab houses ten of the latest Dell XPS desktop computers with core i7 processors and running windows server using NComputing on thin client. Cell C has also included 12 months' worth of free Internet connectivity to the school, which consists of 60GB of data for 12 months and a USB speedstick capable of speeds up to 21.6Mbps.

Free uniforms for the needy

The computer lab will be used for basis Internet browsing, research for school projects, computer literacy training and school assignments. In addition, Cell C has also donated 50 sets of school uniforms valued at R35 000 to the needy learners.

"We are proud to be collaborating and engaging with the Communications Ministry on this great initiative aimed at developing our future leaders through ICT. We believe that by exposing learners to ICT and technology we are also positively contributing towards bridging the digital divide," said Mothibi Ramusi, executive head of regulatory affairs at Cell C.
