Effective, efficient services at ports of entry over Easter

Home Affairs Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, says those who will be travelling through the country's ports of entry during the long Easter Weekend will receive efficient and effective services.

This follows the deployment of over 200 additional immigration officers by the department to various ports of entry to deal with the anticipated high traveller volumes during the Easter weekend.

Starting from Sunday, 1 April, the officers will be deployed to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Limpopo.

In this regard, 40 additional officers will be deployed to the Free State, 72 to Mpumalanga, 18 to Northern Cape, 22 to KwaZulu-Natal, seven to the Eastern Cape, and 41 to Limpopo's Beit Bridge border.

Extended hours

Minister Dlamini Zuma has further extended working hours at certain ports of entry.

At the Lebombo border in Mpumalanga, officials will work 24 hours from April 2 until May 2; for 24 hours at Oshoek from 5-6 April; from 7am-00h00 at Mananga from 5-9 April; from 07h00-22h00 at Mahamba from 5-9 April and from 07h00-22h00 at Jeppes Reef from 5-9 April.

In Groblersbrug, Limpopo officials will work for 24 hours from 5-8 April, while in Van Rooyenshek, Free State they will work for 24 hours on 5 April.

In Qashasneck, Eastern Cape, officials will work 6am to 10 pm on both April 4 and 5 for 24 hours.

Minister Dlamini Zuma also wished all those who will be travelling through the country's various ports of entry a safe and blessed Easter.
