FNB expands smartphone and tablet range, drops prices

FNB is now offering clients the Samsung Galaxy Pocket at R45 per month and is providing them with smartphones, tablets, Windows laptops and MacBooks at reduced prices with a 24-month payment option with no interest, fees or additional charges.

By lowering the cost of these devices, more South Africans now have access to mobile and digital banking technology, including FNB's Banking App.

Ilse Smuts, head of marketing at FNB's Core Banking Services said: "We have added to our range of smart device offerings. There has been considerable uptake by new and existing clients and we believe that our offering puts FNB at the forefront of digital change for the banking industry." In addition to the wide range of devices available, including the Samsung Galaxy S3, BlackBerry Curve 9380, new Apple iPad and MacBook Air, FNB has now added the Samsung Galaxy Pocket as well as Acer laptops with Windows.

A lift in demand for all devices

"Since adding the various devices to our offering we have seen a lift in demand for all devices. Our aim is to make access to electronic banking faster and easier, and it's great to see consumers adapting to the shift from traditional to digital banking," added Smuts.

The devices can also be purchased online and through the new dotFNB stores. These stores enable more convenient digital banking that matches the changing technological environment.

"Our move to digital has been welcomed by many and we will continue to add new platforms as our drive to digital and innovative banking is growing. In addition, we will incorporate and encourage new and existing customers to use our platforms as the drive to innovation and technology increases," concluded Smuts.

New and existing clients can order their smart devices online at www.fnb.co.za or, alternatively, SMS "SWITCH" to 32812. Standard network rates apply.
