The Gypsum division of Saint-Gobain is the proud sponsor of the Gypsum International Trophy competition to identify, recognise and promote world-class skills in drywall technology and plastering.

The Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy is one of the largest international competitions of its kind seen to promote excellence and innovation in the use of sustainable, lightweight plasterboard systems and plasters, with the main objective of the initiative being to reward contractors who make a valuable contribution to innovation within our industry.

This year, Saint-Gobain subsidiaries in 37 countries across the globe will seek out the world's newest, most interesting and innovative construction projects to enter into the International Trophy competition.

Six categories

Over 100 projects that vary in size and type are expected to be entered into this year's competition and will be judged in six categories, including plasterboard, plasterer solutions, innovation, segment solutions used in either education, hospitals or hotels, residential and mixed use in commercial leisure and retail developments.

Evan Lockhart-Barker, general manager of Marketing at Saint-Gobain Gyproc SA, announced the local winners in each of the six categories. "The judges made specific mention of the very high level of entries received this year, and I commend and congratulate all winners. You are the shining stars in our industry and Saint-Gobain Gyproc are proud to be associated with yourselves and offer you the platform for your work to be recognized internationally through this competition," said Lockhart-Barker.

"I wish Abbeycon, ceiling and partitioning contractors responsible for the Cradlestone Mall development every success for the final results of the 9th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy competition, which will be announced at the awards ceremony being held in Berlin in June 2014," added Lockhart-Barker.
