2015 Sasol New Signatures: last call for entries

South African artistic talent has played a pivotal role in documenting our country's history and reflecting society's views. The Sasol New Signatures art competition is an excellent platform for aspirant artists to be discovered and have the opportunity to make a mark in the visual art industry.
2015 Sasol New Signatures: last call for entries

Emerging artists interested in entering the 2015 Sasol New Signatures art competition have until 4pm on Wednesday 15 July 2015, to enter. This year's competition calls for ambitious artists above the age of 18 to showcase their "eye for potential." These are visual artists who have the ability and imagination to see and create artworks beyond what the naked eye can see.

The winner of the competition will receive a R100,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition. The runner up will receive R25,000, and the five merit winners R10,000 each.

"Year on year we have seen many inspiring works of art, and the standard and quality consistently increase. Artists are becoming bolder, more expressive and innovative with their submissions and it has been a joy to witness the evolution of art within the country," says Pieter Binsbergen, Sasol New Signatures judge and chairman.

Richard Hughes, group sponsorship manager at Sasol adds, "Aspiring artists need a promising platform which not only exhibits their artwork but nurtures and grows their talents by mentoring, grooming and continuously inspiring them to achieve. We are looking for the eye for potential in this year's winner."

Entrants are encouraged to finalise their pieces and submit them at collection points in Bloemfontein, Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Johannesburg or Pretoria. A completed entry form and accompanying documentation must accompany the pieces.
