Zebra & Giraffe back The Killers

Rock act Zebra & Giraffe will be The Killers' support act on their SA tour, commencing with two nights at the Coca-Cola Dome in Joburg (Thursday, 3 December and Friday, 4 December 2009) and then goes to Cape Town for a performance on Sunday, 6 December at Val De Vie Wine and Polo Estate, in the Paarl/Franschhoek Valley.

The tour is presented by HeinekenR and supported by regional radio stations 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 Kfm.

Zebra & Giraffe is the pseudonym of Johannesburg-based artist, Greg Carlin. Zebra & Giraffe has had a whirlwind 2009, winning the SAMA Award for Best Rock Album, MTV MAMA Award for Best Alternative Act (beating Coldplay and Green Day), playing at the Coca-Cola Zero Fest alongside Oasis and Snow Patrol and releasing debut album “Collected Memories”, which has produced seven hit singles so far, including: The Knife, Arm Yourself, Running Faster, In My Eyes, Oxymoron, Fight Fight Fight, and the latest chart topper Leaving Again.

The Killers

The Killers is one of the world biggest alternative rock bands. Formed in Las Vegas, Brandon Flowers, David Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci and Mark Stoermer burst onto the music scene in 2004 with their debut album “Hot Fuss”, which went four times Platinum in the UK and three times Platinum in the US. Their other releases “Sam's Town” (2006) sold over a million copies worldwide and “Day & Age” (2008) went straight to number one in the UK. They have received seven nods from The Grammys, won a variety of MTV, BRIT and NME Awards and have headlined some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds and Pukkelpop. Fans in South Africa will be able to see some of The Killers biggest hits live, including: Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Bones, When We Were Young, Read My Mind and Human.

When asked about supporting The Killers, Zebra & Giraffe's Greg Carlin said: "I am so excited that we've been chosen to support the Killers on their South African tour. They're one of my favourite bands and it'll be an honour to share the stage with them. I can't think of a better way to end the year than to play with one of the biggest bands in the world!"

The Killers is presented by Heineken in association with 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 Kfm live in South Africa.
