RwandAir to fly to Joburg and Dar Es Salaam

RwandAir has announced that from 3 February 2010 it will be instating direct flights into Johannesburg every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flights from Kigali to Dar Es Salaam will commence on 2 February.

The four-times weekly service to Joburg, which commences on 3 February, 2010 will maintain the daylight operation with departures from Kigali set at 2.30pm (local Kigali time). Kigali-bound flights will depart from Johannesburg at 7pm (Johannesburg time).

The national carrier of Rwanda has also announced the launch of flights to the Tanzanian port city of Dar es Salaam via Bujumbura beginning 2 February, 2010. The early morning flights will depart from Kigali International Airport at 7am (local Kigali time) every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday while the direct to Kigali return flights will depart from Julius Nyerere International Airport Dar es Salaam at 11am (Dar es Salaam time).

While announcing these additions to the schedule, the COO, Captain Jack Ekl, said that the airline is keen to deploy more capacity whilst increasing its frequencies to these destinations with the expected acquisition of a Boeing 767 and a Boeing 737-800 in March 2010. “We will soon be communicating our 2010 World Cup offers with the resumption of the Joburg direct service,” he added. RwandAir recently announced its plans to operate scheduled flights to Goma and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo - DRC in the first quarter of 2010.

RwandAir will be relaunching this route with an introductory offer where passengers can purchase a return ticket and a partner can fly for free. This will be valid until end of January, 2010 and terms and conditions will apply.
