AAA gets a degree

The AAA School of Advertising (AAA), which currently offers qualifications in IMC, copywriting and visual communication, will also be offering Bachelor of Art degrees in marketing communication and in creative brand communication.

These two degrees will be offered through both the Cape Town and Johannesburg campuses, effective 2006.

The AAA, which is fully accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and registered by the Department of Education, is the only educational institution in Southern Africa recognised by the International Advertising Association (IAA), New York, US.

Over the years, the AAA has become synonymous with training for the marketing and advertising world in South Africa and more recently, for its significant role in assisting the advertising industry achieve necessary transformation objectives.

Dr Ludi Koekemoer comments that these new degree qualifications will give graduates similar areas of specialisation as with all of the qualifications already offered by the AAA, but, the curriculum will be broader in that there will be more modules.

International and national benchmarking and relevance has been taken into account while developing these degree courses. The existing modules will make use of the same lecturers, while new staff members will be appointed for the new modules.

"Other than competing with other tertiary education institutions, these new degree courses will generate recognition of the proven high academic standards of the AAA. In addition, we can now cater for students who would prefer to obtain a degree after three years of study," says Koekemoer.

The school is currently planning conversion courses staged in the evenings and Saturdays for those graduates those have completed diploma courses in the past three years and want to convert their diploma qualification to a degree.
