Zigzag's 30th year starts with a new editor

Effective this November, William Bendix takes over from Craig Jarvis as editor of Zigzag surfing magazine. In its 30-year history Zigzag has grown to become one of South Africa's most recognisable and iconic niche magazine titles.

Bendix is only the fifth editor since the magazine started in 1976. Past editors include Paul Naude who is now the CEO of Billabong in the USA and Craig Sims, MD of Atoll Media. He takes over the reigns as Zigzag moves into 2006 with the release of the December/January issue.

Bendix grew up in Cape Town, and after matriculating he went on an extended gap year that turned into a five-year surf and travel mission around the world that had him spending time in places such as the UK, Mexico, Central America, Middle East, Indonesia and much of Southern Africa. He has a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Rhodes University, specializing in Visual Communication.
