Sponsor Telkom has upped the stakes to make this competition one of the most attractive for journalists to enter; the top ICT journalist will be rewarded with a prize comprising R40 000, as well as an expenses-paid seven day trip to Hong Kong to attend the ITU Conference, while the winner of each category will receive a R15 000 cash prize.
A new category introduced this year for students carries a prize of R10 000 and a bursary for further study in South Africa.
Lulu Letlape, Group Executive, Telkom Corporate Communications, says: "Without the clear spread of information about technology and the intelligent communication of such information, technology would exist in a vacuum, rather than enhancing and uplifting our lives. ICT journalists are the connectors between people and the technology that improves our lives."
