Pendoring 'Ad of the Season': winners announced

Four agencies: Joe Public, Lobedu Leo Burnett, FCB Cape Town and FCB Activ walked away as winners in this year's first 'Ad of the Season' competition organised by Pendoring and the Copywriters' Forum.

Advertisements running between November 2004 until February 2005 were entered and an impressive number of entries were received, compared to a disappointing response in November.

Not only were more ads entered, but the judging panel was also impressed with the standard of work received, with the exception of the magazine category. There was no winner in this category but FCB Cape Town received special commendation for the magazine wrap for client Santam: 'Ons dek die wynland'.

Although entries for the internet category were received, they arrived too late for judging in this round and will stand over until the next Ad of the Season.

RADIO:

The same team of Lobedu Leo Burnett, namely creative director Vanessa Pearson, Stefanus Nel (copywriter), Alan Lewus (art director) and Fezile Mpela as voice artist, was responsible for all the finalists in this category with their 'reality advertising' campaign for client Coca Cola Twist, creating awareness for the name change of Twist Lemon and Twist Grenadella.

NEWSPAPERS:

FCB Cape Town's ad for client Klipdrift, Rustyd, was the winner. The creative team was Francois de Villiers, Anthony de Klerk and André de Wet.

Network#BBDO and Joe Public were the other finalists with a campaign for Cell C, A-Z van C, and 'Uit die diepte for Ocean Basket' respectively.
