MFSA's Agency of the Year 2004

The Marketing Federation of South Africa made its inaugural Advertising Agency of the Year Award at Sun City on Sunday 3rd October 2004.

The Agency of the Year Award and the runner-up title both went to the same agency brand, The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa).

The award was based on client's ratings of their agency by an independent external perception measurement carried out by Objectivity, a company founded in 1982 by Clive Webster specialising in the measurement of perception. "We monitor ad agencies very closely throughout the year. This award was based on return on investment and not just creativity," said Clive Webster.

All agencies that received a finalist award in Loeries formed part of this survey.

Based on the findings, The Jupiter Drawing Room (SA) Cape Town and The Jupiter Drawing Room (SA) Johannesburg were placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the survey.

Kevan Aspoas, Managing Director of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) Cape Town commented: "A client's rating of its agency is one of the most important measures of an agency's success. The fact that our two The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) agencies beat off some truly formidable competition makes this an extremely satisfying award to have won."

Given Mkhari, Vice Chairman of The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) added: "The achievement of our Cape Town and Johannesburg offices is consistent with other independent surveys measuring clients ratings of their advertising agencies. In 2001 and 2002 (the last time the PMR survey was published), The Jupiter Drawing Room offices were each ranked as the highest overall ad agencies in their size categories. So, we're not looking at this result as a flash in the pan."

The MFSA Agency of the Year Award comes on the back of TJDR (South Africa) being ranked 15th in Deloitte & Touche's Human Capital Best Company To Work For Survey announced last week.
